Closure of Sky Cinema Box Office Channels
Cinema Box Office has closed.
What's happened?
As of 4th January 2017 Sky UK has permanently closed down all of the remaining Sky Cinema Box Office channels.
These channels were located on channel numbers 700-715, 743, 744 & 752 of the Sky TV Guide and were used to deliver Pay Per View movie rentals via satellite to Sky customers.
The Sky Sports Box Office channels are unaffected by this change and will continue to remain available for Pay Per View sporting events.
Will I still be able to rent movies via Sky?
The answer to this depends on the model of Sky box you currently have and if your box is connected to the Internet.Sky customers with either a Sky+HD box or a Sky Q box will still be able to rent over 1,000 movies OnDemand via Sky store, providing their box is connected to the Internet.
Customers with older Sky boxes will need to upgrade to a Sky+HD or Sky Q box in order to continue renting movies via Sky.

Current Sky+HD boxes

To use Sky Store and benefit from other connected features you will need to connect your Sky+HD box to your broadband router, which you can do in one of three ways;
Wirelessly using WiFi: If your box has a WPS button on the front, then your box has WiFi built in so you don’t need anything extra. Just go to SERVICES > SETTINGS > NETWORK to get started.
If your box doesn’t have a WPS button on the front, this means your box does NOT have WiFi built in. You can however still connect your box wirelessly by purchasing a Sky Wireless Connector.
Wired using Ethernet: If your Sky+HD box is near your broadband router you can connect your box to it using an Ethernet cable. Just plug one end into your router and the other into the Green Ethernet port on the back of your Sky box.
Wired using Powerline: If your Sky box is not near your broadband router you can still connect the two together with a wired connection by using Powerline adaptors. Simply plug one adaptor into a power socket near your router and connect it to the router. Then plug another adaptor into a power socket near your Sky box and connect it to the Ethernet port on the back of your Sky box. The two powerline adaptors will then establish a connection between themselves using your mains electrical wiring.

The only Sky+HD boxes which are NOT compatible are those manufactured by Thomson, as these boxes do not support Sky OnDemand. Thomson Sky+HD boxes can be identified by their “Version Number” which begins with 4E30, you can check your Sky Boxes Version Number by pressing SERVICES then selecting SETTINGS > SYSTEM DETAILS.
